Morning Sam,
OH MY Goodness! Lucas is sooooo smart! Cleo (my older female) is his mentor. That gives each of my adult dog a youngster to teach. He learned from her the 2nd day not to chase chickens and ducks. He of course being a baby thought they looked like fun. In a dead run or should I say tumble (he is awful clumsy) he went after them. Cleo promptly put both her front feet on his head and growled. He has not attempted it again and walks calmly among them. He has not had a single accident in his crate since the first night. He lets us know he needs to go out. We have a large oak stump in the yard and took him there the first couple times to potty, now he runs there on his own. He has learned his name as well and comes when he is called (the second or third time as any good Pyrenees will) He is also more aggressive toward strange things than my girls were when they were pups. He hides from nothing and everything new or strange is approached with a growl. He is spending about an hour a day with an orphan goat that is the same height as he is. So far he has been really good with her. If he gets too rough, Cleo growls at him and he stops. I think he has GREAT potential as a “Goat Guardian”. My vet had to show him to the entire staff and said he is the finest Pyrenees pup he has seen in a long time! And he is a retired show judge as well.
Any way I guess you can tell I am a proud momma! And LUCAS is perfect and loved! (and growing!) He starts puppy kindergarten classes in January.
Thanks so much for this awesome puppy- tell Dandy and Polly thanks too!
Diana
